Girona
The city of Girona is in the northeast of Catalonia, about 100 kilometers of Barcelona, near the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees. Girona is a city on a human scale with all the charm of a larger city. It offers a wide range of social, cultural and educational offerings. The Old Quarter of the city is one of the most important medieval monumental ensembles of Catalonia. Since much of the old quarter of this ancient city has been preserved, Girona is a popular destination for tourists, and film productions have used it as a filming location (e.g. Game of Thrones, and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer).
Sant Domènec Building
CP 2024 will be hosted at Campus Barri Vell (Old Quarter Campus) of the University of Girona, place for many faculties of the university, including arts and tourism as well as the rectorate. The campus is at walking distance from the city center. The conference will be located at Convent de Sant Domènec, dating from the 13th century, nowadays belonging to the university. The main conference room will be located at Magna Modest Prats Classroom. This room is the main hall of the old church of Sant Domènec, which has been conditioned and well-equipped to host conferences and other distinguished events at the university. Parallel sessions and workshops will be held in an adjacent chapel and other rooms of the university, and finger lunches and coffee breaks will take place in the cloister of the convent.
Practical Information
The following is an aerial image of the Old Quarter Campus, where you can identify the facilities where CP will be held as well as the three access doors (green arrows). For people with reduced mobility, there is an entrance to Aula Magna Modest Prats directly from the cloister, using an elevator. People with reduced mobility should always use the Arts Faculty entrance. The Arts Faculty and the cloister are internally connected.
